London Leica specialist, Red Dot Cameras, has launched a thermoplastic rubber hood-cap for all Leica Q cameras.
This 3D-printed cap is exclusive to Red Dot Cameras and replaces the standard and expensive cap for all Leica Q models.
Thermoplastic hood-cap is cheaper to replace
Made of TPE, the cap fits the hood securely when the lens is not in use and is much cheaper to replace than the genuine Leica accessory (which can stay safely in the camera box).
The rubber hood-cap costs ยฃ30, including VAT; you can find full details here.

It looks like a displaced โRed Neckโ home improvement project you see on the Horror channel on YouTube?
Itโs not pretty is it?

I wonder if there might be a stronger demand if the red initial letters R.D.C. were in black, or very much smaller?
Would not dissuade me from buying. Red Dot designed the cap so OK to include their logo. Might also be sufficient demand for an X Vario ‘hood cap’ – I’ve made my own XV hood cap but it’s not as neat as a 3D printed cap.
Perhaps Red Dot could produce the RDC-P model for those who want a little more discretion.
