The new Safari edition joins Leica’s expanding M11 lineup

The return of the distinctive Safari Special Edition

The new Leica M11-P Safari continues the long and successful tradition of coveted Leica Safari Editions. These Safari Editions have stood out since the 70s, thanks to their eye-catching olive-green colour scheme, as well as additional subtle design features which emphasise the special edition’s exclusive aesthetics.

The distinctive colour scheme gives the Leica Safari’s design an unmistakable character. The elaborately constructed camera top plate is made of solid brass and has been given a durable paint finish in matte olive green. The olive-green finish of the leatherette covering creates perfect colour coordination, while also ensuring exceptional grip.

Distinctive and discreet

The silver controls and dials on the camera top plate and front provide a stunning contrast. The red Leica logo has also been deliberately omitted and is replaced with a subtle silver screw. Further features stand out, such as the controls on the back of the camera being finished in black.

To further distinguish the camera, it features an engraved Leica signature script, as well as the “Leica Camera AG” and “Wetzlar Germany” lettering, to round off the exceptional design of the Leica M11-P Safari.

A standout with history

The new special edition corresponds technically with the Leica M11-P in terms of performance and technical specifications. It also pulls off the same extraordinary technological feats as the base model, such as content credentials technology.

This means that the M11-P Safari can sign every image with tamper-proof metadata, such as the camera model and copyright information, as well as creation and editing dates, if desired.

Its internal 256 GB memory means you can snap photos in DNG and JPG formats to your heart’s content. The LCD panel is made of scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and features an anti-reflective coating.

The high-performance BSI CMOS full-frame sensor with Triple Resolution Technology produces images that are rich in contrast and detail. The sensor also provides the option of three different image resolutions, from 60, to 36 and 18 megapixels.

Connected to the 21st century

Thanks to seamless connectivity via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or cable, the camera can be quickly and conveniently connected with the Leica FOTOS App. Photos can be transmitted in the background in a way that is both quick and energy efficient, thanks to Bluetooth Low Energy.

M-Cameras have been synonymous with precision craftsmanship, uncompromising quality and timeless understatement for over 70 years. The Leica M11-P Safari is the perfect choice for anyone who particularly values exclusivity, aesthetics, and style. The special edition is supplied with a black carrying strap by Leica. It is packaged in high-quality boxes made of sustainable material, made in Germany.

    • Different from market to market then it seems, in the US there is $655 difference ($9,840 versus $10,495). The big shocker nowadays though is $380 for an imported from China spare battery …

  1. I think Leica could attempt this innovation one more time by making the M11 in red… that would be cool
