Leica M11 Firmware Update 2.6.0: Covers all models, including the new M EV1

Leica M11 Firmware Update 2.6.0 has been announced to coincide with the arrival of the new M EV1 camera last week. It offers new white-balance adjustment options and enhanced lens detection when using Leica M lenses with six-bit coding. It covers all M11 variants, including the M11-D and the M EV1.

White balance

The new function โ€œWhite Balance Adjustmentโ€ allows the user to make custom changes to the sensor white point calibrated ex-works. This adjustment will affect the automatic white balance as well as the fixed presets (Film Style).

Lens detection

Lens detection now offers additional flexibility when using Leica M lenses with six-bit coding. Even if the lens type is detected automatically, the user can now additionally select another lens type from the list of M lenses. The list is available for all profiles and will be included when profiles are exported to an SD card.

Dust protection

In a third improvement to the firmware, the Dust Protection function can now also be controlled via Leica FOTOS (Version 5.5.1 and higher).

Error correction

The updated firmware repairs several known bugs:

  1. In rare cases, the connection between the camera and smartphone was severed by the operating system during image downloads and could not be restored afterwards. This issue was resolved.
  2. A bug was fixed where, in exposure bracketing with Auto ISO, the second and third shots were at times taken with unnecessarily high ISO values.
  3. The issue where images were sometimes misaligned after being transferred to the computer if the camera was quickly rotated from horizontal to vertical during shooting was fixed.
