Today, Leica has introduced four new limited-edition M lenses — three Summiluxes and one Summicron. They are designated officially as “coveted product variants”. Three are to complement the popular Safari colour scheme, while one has a glossy black finish. They range from 28mm to 50mm.
Safari lenses
As with all the new Safari lenses, the finish is in matte olive green paint, with red feet and white meter scales. All have a brass silver-chrome finger grip to distinguish them as collectors’ items.
The lenses represent the first special edition of the new “close-focus” lenses. Production will be limited to between 500 and 900 units per lens. According to Leica, they “match the respective series models and, as compact wide-angle, reportage and standard focal lengths, offer maximum freedom and flexibility in image composition”.

Glossy black Summilux
The new Summilux-M 50 f/1.4 will cost £3,660 | €4,250 and will be available from 4 December 2025. It is based on the Summilux-M 50 f/1.4 Classic Line and is made of brass with a glossy black paint finish. The feet scale is in red, while the meter scale is in white. It comes with the classic round lens hood, also in glossy black paint finish.
Announcing the new lens, Leica says that the glossy black paint finish has long been among the most coveted Leica looks. “Thanks to its picturesque bokeh when shooting with a wide aperture, the image aesthetics of this first classic lens are as emblematic of the Leica look as the exclusive glossy black finish.”
