According to reports in Techcrunch and other sites, Microsoft employees staged a street parade at their headquarters in Redmond, Washington, to celebrate the launch of the new Windows Phone 7 operating system. All well and good, but what on earth were they thinking of to include a funeral cortege for the iPhone and BlackBerry? And why was Android missing from the hearse? Microsoft are clearly über confident that they have the ultimate phone OS, so they are nothing if not bullish. The whole episode is bizarre in the extreme and perhaps says more about Microsoft rather than about the Windows Phone 7 system. Having carried their voodoo phone dolls around the campus, perhaps Microsofties should reflect on the possibility that news of the iPhone's demise is a little premature.
