The upgrade to iLife announced today at £45 (free with all new Macs) is a must-have, particularly for the impressive new features in iPhoto and iMovie. iPhoto brings a new full-screen view for Faces, Places and Events and Facebook integration which allows you to share photographs with friends and see their comments right in iPhoto. Other new features include themes for emailing photographs or groups of pictures, twelve new slideshow themes for full-screen presentations, and easier production of professional-quality photo books.
The presentation of the new iMovie features at today's press conference in Cupertino was especially impressive, with professional-looking Hollywood-style movie trailers on screen with just a few clicks. Enhanced editing facilities, this time with emphasis on sound editing, makes it even simpler to turn your video clips into a professional presentation.
Garage Band has been revised with better editing facilities and a new piano or guitar tutor which includes progress and history functions to show you how you are playing. The final two modules, iWeb and iDVD have also been upgraded.
iLife '11, which is available now, costs £45 for a single licence or £69 for a five-user family pack.
