Software:The developer deserves his cash

Because software is intangible many people believe it should be free. Some people resent making even small payments – sometimes simply donations – for a product they use day in day out. I don’t subscribe to this view and I believe that the continued development of software for the Mac platform depends on publishers being successful and working to provide me with still better versions in future.

I was therefore wholly in agreement with Michael Gartenberg’s article on Macworld today. In it he praises Apple for their “honour system” of trusting customers to do the right thing, believing that if you treat the consumer like an adult he will act like one.
