iPhone 4.3: Turn off ping to improve battery life

Since I upgraded to iOS 4.3 I’m not alone in noticing a sharp reduction in iPhone battery life. This has been reported by many people and I was getting frustrated by the steep downward path of the battery every day. So I’m grateful to Pocket-Lint for this suggestion to turn off Ping in Settings/General/Restrictions.

I had not explored the Restrictions menu before but I took this opportunity to visit the Location sub-menu and turn off the location awareness in several other applications under the Location Services tab. I don’t know if this will do any good, but I will test out the battery life over the next few days and report back if there is an improvement.
