Skype and Microsoft: Getting their lame ducks in a row

Much as we’ve all relied on Skype for years, its image is becoming tarnished among Mac users. The dreadful new software, for starters, is frustrating and confusing. It’s also becoming quite expensive, especially for calls to mobiles abroad. Those £25 PayPal charges are appearing ever more frequently on my statement. If Skype is becoming a lame duck, welcome to the marriage of two ducks. Once Skype disappears into the maw of Microsoft, it’s high time for us to say goodbye. The service will get more convoluted and obtrusive and we can forget timely Mac software updates. Whither next?
