UK to tax email in bid to save the Post Office

The best April 1 fliers are the plausible ones. And none is more plausible than this suggestion from British MP, John Redwood, that the Business Department, led by the joyless economist Vince Cable, is set to tax email in a last-ditch attempt to save the ailing Post Office and its 60p first-class stamp.

It becomes even more realistic when the Taliban faction of the green left is imagined plotting in the background: “We spend far too much time on our computers, wasting energy, far better to send a real letter and give the postman some good free exercise.”
