I was actually rather pleased to read that Apple has withdrawn from EPEAT, which I had never heard of, but is apparently something to do with protecting the environment from dangerous used computers. The new glued-together retina MacBook Pro and, presumably, future gluey Apple computers, are not compatible with easy recycling.
There has been a lot sandal stomping by environmentalists around the US, especially in San Francisco, where head green, Melanie Nutter, has announced that the City will not buy any more Apple computers. This is akin to the City of Munich refusing to buy BMW cars. Clearly immaculate environmental credentials are more important than jobs in the peninsular.
