I admit it. I’m addicted to my iPhone. If there were an Olympic sport of chimping I’d be standing up their with the gold medal round my neck. Some people think smartphone addiction is a bad thing. I see things differently.
My phone keeps me in touch. I get up-to-the-minute news while I’m out and about during the day, I keep in touch with friends, check stocks, find out when the next No. 237 will arrive and have a constant, glorious window on the world. When I’m not chimping I’m reading. Sometimes I even find time to talk to people.
In short, I’m well connected. I get fidgety when I have to switch off my phone and I don’t mind admitting it. I enjoy being in touch and I certainly wouldn’t want to go back to the dark days before 1990, relying on day-old news and the possibility that there’s no queue at the nearest red telephone box.
