This weekend is one of the rare openings of the massive Acton Depot of the London Transport Museum. Only a small collection of exhibits are on show at the Covent Garden museum, the one seen by all the tourists. Lurking in Acton, W3, just opposite Acton Town Underground station, is the Depot.
The open weekend provides an opportunity for transport geeks of all ages to trample over the carriages and buses of yesteryear. For £3 you can buy a 1½d tram ticket from 1930. Now that’s inflation for you.
