For light travellers, Apple’s decision to pack the minimalist 5-watt iPhone charger with the iPad mini is a welcome move. I always felt compelled to take the 10-watt charger when away from home with the bigPad, now the packing list is simpler. A couple of 5-watt plugs will suffice. At the same time, though, we have the new 12-watt charger (replacing the 10-watt). This is undoubtedly designed for the latest, faster 10-in iPad and, obviously it will charge iPhones and iPad minis considerably faster. But the good news is that it isn’t necessary for the mini. If, like me, you charge your devices overnight, every night, a little extra charging time is neither here nor there.
