Pebble gets ready for shipping

Somewhere in one of these boxes in China is my black Pebble watch. It’s been a long time since I sponsored this project and the world is now awash with iPhone-syncing wristwear. I’d almost given up hope, but recent reports of the watch in action have been very positive and I am delighted to see this firm evidence of readiness.

It is two months since I bought, tested and then rejected the £399 Citizen Proximity watch and I am now convinced that there is little point in investing in a relatively expensive watch containing synchronisation electronics that could well be out of date within a year or two.

The Pebble, on the other hand, is a $150 item with an upgradeable OS and an app store to supply additional features and a wide range of watch faces. Altogether it makes a lot of sense, so I look forward to my package arriving from the distribution centre in Hong Kong.
