The new Leica Mini M is almost certainly an X2, APS-C sensored compact with a zoom lens. The current X2 is has a fixed focal length of 35mm (equivalent). The nesw comes in a post on Leica Rumors today. According to the source, the new camera will have an 28-70mm Elmar zoom with an unexciting f/3.5-6.4 aperture. It is scheduled to cost around €2,450 (£2,110).
If this take is true I am underwhelmed. Ten years ago the Digilux 2 had a a fast f/2-2.4 Vario-Summicron and I cannot believe Leica would consider such a slow lens to be competitive. I have not placed my order.
