The Jony Ive and Marc Newson-designed Leica M is here, after 85 days of brainstorming and 561 mockup models. It’s aluminium, of course, so it should weigh less than a conventional brass M. And that 50mm APO Summicron looks like a one-off as well.
I actually like the design but I am not so sure about the reaction from Leica purists. The camera and lens will be auctioned by Southeby’s on November 23 to raise cash for The Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
