Networks: Speedtest.net gets native iPad support

The popular Speedtest.net app from Ookla has long been my favourite way of checking speeds on the iPhone. From today Speedtest has native iPad support and it looks great. It also has welcome improvements to help handling of faster connections. In my first test using the application on my iPad mini I proved the competence of my Virgin Media cable broadband connection. It is rated at 125 Mbps and will be upgraded to 150 Mbps in July at no additional charge. The upload speed of 11.45 Mbps is excellent for a British domestic service provider but poor in comparison with the norm in other countries, particularly the USA.  With more to-ing and fro-ing of large files via Dropbox and other services, upload speeds are becoming more important for the average user. Still, it’s nice to know where you stand.
