Dave Lewis, writing on Steve Huff’s blog, explains how he bought a Leica M3 from Ivor Cooper at Red Dot Cameras in London before using the camera as a novel way of proposing to his girlfriend, Bex. Dave wanted the grand gesture and spent weeks crafting a purple leather covering (Bex’s favourite colour) onto his Red Dot camera. He then concealed an engagement ring in the film compartment and everything followed from there. Great story.
Postscript: I Met Dave and Bex at the Photo Fair on May 18 and managed to grab a couple of pictures of them and the purple M3.
