Napier-Railton: 24-litre race car meets Leica M at Brooklands

This morning I arrived at Brooklands Museum in Weybridge just in time to see the unique Napier-Railton having one of its rare outings. It was fired up for a guest appearance in a film documentary. Push-starting and manoeuvring was a sight to behold. The legendary race car was commissioned by famous Brooklands driver John Cobb and designed by Reid Railton. It was built here, on the Brooklands site, by Thomson & Taylor in 1933. It is now housed inside the museum but is given a run every now and then.

I took the opportunity of introducing the 1933 speedster to my 2013 Leica M and its fast 50mm f/1.4 Summilux ASPH lens. B&W conversion in Silver Efex Pro. I wonder how many Leicas, from the early days of Wetzlar to now, have photographed this particular vehicle.
