In a Pickle: Developing a taste for photography in south London

Opposite the house where Charlie Chaplin once lived is the pickle factory where Chaplin Senior laboured to support his family. And that factory is now a well-preserved working model of Britain’s oldest-surviving photographic association. The Camera Club was formed in 1885 and still provides studios, darkrooms and a social focus for London’s photographers. After all those years, this true gem is one of the best-kept secrets of the photographic world.
