The ruined church of St.Dunstan-in-the-East, between Monument and The Tower in the City of London, is a classic backdrop for keen photographers. It attracts both professionals and amateurs  looking for a tailor-made medieval context. Yesterday I took the Leica M-P and 50mm Apo-Summicron for an outing under the aegis of the Simple Street Photography group. The group was assisted by two professional models, Tizania and Solange (pictured below) but I also happened across Sandie and her friends from Hong Kong who were there for an amateur fun photography session amid the ancient walls.
These meetups, which take place at least once a week, are a great way of meeting new friends and exploring areas that are sometimes outside your comfort zone. I find them invaluable when evaluating new equipment.
I am really enjoying trying the new 50mm Apo-Summicron-M ASPH and, as expected, it is ideally matched to the latest Leica M. However, over the past couple of weeks I’ve been trying it on three different cameras and it never fails to impress. It is the sort of lens you want to put on your camera and leave it there. My friend George James calls it The One Lens.
