Tokyo Camera Style features on the BBC’s web site

Phil Coomes is editor of the Leica Society’s TLS Magazine and has re-published a number of my camera tests over the years. In his day job, though, Phil is the BBC’s picture editor and also contributes a number of interesting articles to the website.

Like me, Phil is a fan of the eclectic Tokyo Camera Style blog which concentrates entirely on interesting cameras in the hands of street photographers around the Japanese capital. Seldom do we see a face; all emphasis is on the gear. But what an amazing collection of gear. In the top shot, taken in Tokyo’s well-known Kappabashi-dori, we see a Contax Aria with Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 Planar and, lurking on the anonymous neck’s strap is a fine Leica M7 with 35mm f/2 Summicron ASPH and a prominent Zeiss external viewfinder.
