Rental of Leica equipment in London is now easier following a new partnership arrangement between the German company and the Pro Centre in Union Walk, E2. Although the emphasis is on serving professional photographers, amateurs are more than welcome. The “try-before-you-buy” facility will be especially attractive. If you buy within 30 days of the hire you will receive a day’s rental refund—but only on orders over £500, a restriction that shouldn’t be too onerous after a glance at the Leica price list.
Stock includes S-System, SL and M ranges and charges are reduced for rentals of over three days. Between four and seven days the bill is capped at four days’ rental while for a rental of between 22 days to 30 days you will pay only ten times the daily figure.
Borrow a Leica SL, M-P or Monochrom and the daily charge is £114, including VAT, or £456 per week. An SL 24-90 zoom costs £28.80 per day while a 50mm Summicron-M is only £18 or £72 per week. A number of accessories are also available, including the SL/M adapter, the M multifunction grip and, even, a spare M battery for £6 a day.
Pro Centre offers free delivery to all London postcodes for orders worth over £250 plus VAT.
