It doesn’t add much to the story but here is Leica’s official statement on the TL2:
Important Information from Leica Camera AG
When using the Leica TL2 with an external electronic viewfinder (Visoflex) a defect may occur that could stop the camera from working. Regardless of whether this defect affects your camera, we suggest you contact the Leica dealer you purchased it from. The trust our customers place in Leica Camera and our products is extremely important to us and we deeply regret this situation. You can rely on Leica Camera to do its utmost to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
I’m hoping that whatever is causing this glitch is fixable by firmware update. If it turns out to be a physical problem involving the Visoflex and camera connection it will be a serious issue involving replacement or repair of all the cameras sent out prior to the launch. For once, Leica had cameras available on announcement day rather than a few months down the line. Whatever happens, it is a problem which the factory will want to sort out as soon as possible.

I just love the way Leica extensively test every product to iron out any and all possible bugs before releasing to the market. (And if you believe that you will believe anything!) Don Morley
Red Dot Forum posted the following statement from Leica:
The official statement, from Leica:
We have identified the cause of the failure when using the TL2 in combination with the electronic viewfinder (Visoflex). It is very likely that this can be resolved with a firmware update. In order to avoid any and all risks, the new firmware will be tested intensively. As soon as the tests have been completed successfully, we will inform you accordingly.
Thanks, Tony. That’s what I understand also. I’m hoping the "extensive" testing isn’t going to take months.
