See below for a special Macfilos discount on Classic Cases lens pouches
If you buy a new Leica M lens you will find a beautifully constructed soft-leather case inside the box. It’s specially tailored, with foam inserts to keep the lens dead centre out of harm’s way. If you’re lucky, too, your secondhand M lens will come with this case.

Hand pouchery
If you are out of luck — and you are with most non-Leica lenses — then a stock of appropriately sized lens pouches is something you would do well to built up. Now, at last, you have an elegant solution which complements your expensive Leica glass — or Fuji, Sony, Canon, Nikon glass for that matter. Paul Glendell, who is well known for his half cases made for most Leica and some Fuji cameras, has turned his hand to a bit of hand pouchery. And they are made in Scotland, home of the sporran, another form of dangling pouch.

Lens pouches from Classic Cases made from fine suede leather, with a rigid foam base for protection and a drawstring to secure the lens. They come in four diameters — 8, 10, 12 and 14cm — and four heights — 12, 14, 18 and 20cm. Paul advises choosing a pouch that is 6cm higher than the top of the lens and 2cm wider than the lens diameter.
Discount
The pouches come in three attractive colours, red, green and blue, and range in price from £28 to £36. All are made personally by Paul in his Scottish workshop. You can calculate the size and order by visiting the Classic Cases website. If you do intend to order, Paul makes a very sensible suggestion — choose different colours for your lenses so you can instantly recognise which is which.
I’ve managed to twist Paul’s arm and secured a special one-off discount for Macfilos readers. You will get a discount of 10% and free shipping, Just apply the code macfilos1 at checkout. The offer lasts until the end of this month, 31 May 2018.

Hello Brian, Thank you for your comment. Yes I have considered wraps with velco fastening, it is on my list of things to try out. If you are really interested I would be very happy to make you one or more. Just give me the sizes and I can quote you a price. Colours as per the lens pouches. Here is my email: Paul@classiccases.co.uk
Has he thought of doing wraps with Velcro to secure closure. I have never understood this type of lens protection – they seem like the equivalent of the never ready camera cases sold back when I was learning to shave. However, I do like various coloured wraps and would appreciate this quality for less used lenses in my bag.
