It’s photography fair time again here in Europe and the next six weeks provide two important highlights. They are two of the biggest events of their kind — first here in London this coming weekend and second in Paris early in June. Macfilos will be there to bring you reports on both events. Camera fairs are great fun and, over the years, I’ve made many friends and enjoyed browsing the stands and buying the odd item or two. Both Photographica in London and the International Photo Fair in Bièvres, south-west of Paris, are my favourites of the year.

Photographica, London, 20 May 2018
This one-day event attracts visitors from around the world and is a great opportunity to grab some bargain film cameras — if you get there early, that is. It takes place in the Royal Horticultural Society’s Lindley Hall in Vincent Square, Victoria, SW1. Full details, including opening times, can be found here. The hall is a short walk from Victoria mainline and Underground stations.

Bièvres, Paris, 2 and 3 June 2018
International Photo Fair in France takes over the entire centre of the small town of Bièvres, about 28km south west of Paris and very close to Versailles. It’s a two-day event and is much bigger than Photographica and has an even larger international attendance. Unlike most fairs, however, it is an open-air affair so good weather helps. I’ve generally been lucky, but the 2017 event was something of a washout. For full details, check out the website here.
If you are at either event please come up and make yourself known.
