Macfilos has been offline for the past 18 hours but all is now up and running. This was my fault because I pressed the wrong button while doing a bit of housekeeping. The site theme, NewsMag, was on the list of plug-ins waiting for amendment and I knew from past experience that I should leave this particular update to the experts. Inadvertently, however, I pressed the “update all” button and this immediately broke the site. As if this weren’t bad enough, I did it after 6 pm when our agency, Worcester Web Studios, had gone home for the evening.
Johann and Spencer at the agency worked on the site this morning but, unfortunately, the most recent roll-back failed. They have now restored the site from Monday and everything is working. I’m sorry for this break in service and I know it must have crossed the minds of regular readers that we had been hacked. Nothing so dramatic. Just my right index finder was hacked but I am sure it has now learned its lesson.
Back to business… and thank you all for your continued support.
Mike
At least your ‘yes to all’ error didn’t have the result of the operator at the nuclear threat desk in Hawaii a few years back. If you recall, that poor person clicked through the ‘yes to all’ and ‘ok’ pop ups in the bleary start to their shift, thus setting off ‘this is not a drill’ warnings of attack across the island that could only be switched off by the Governor — who had to be reached on the golf course.
Yes, I now know why I couldn’t be trusted with the nuclear suitcase.
Hi Mike, this is my favourite website- please be more careful 😂.
Yes, I shall wear mittens in future when approaching the site’s control panel. Far too risky.
Relief! This is one of my favorite sites that I visit every day.
Ok… I was wondering if the russians were behind this
Did cross my mind… At least I realised what I’d done and didn’t dwell too much on wider possibilities.
