Following Leica’s earlier partnership with Huawei, the company has now turned to the world’s third-largest manufacturer of mobile phones, Xiaomi. Earlier this week, Leica Camera announced a strategic cooperation with the Chinese company. A new smartphone, jointly developed by the two companies, will be launched in July this year.
Leica sees cooperation between the two companies as mutually beneficial. Leica’s 100 years’ experience in photography will complement Xiaomi’s capabilities in the field of lens optics, algorithms and its deep understanding of mobile photography.

And for the Leica CL, they could only count on one !!
How long is that? As much as L mount APSC Alliance?
Good question. Last year’s Leitz phone was based on a SHARP phone for the Japanese market. A new model of the SHARP phone is rumoured to be under development but there is no news yet of a new model Leitz phone. Perhaps this joint venture product with Xiaomi would be a one off product for a specific market (China) ?
Who knows. Leica basically knows counting from one to eleven. Any other seems too difficult for them
