Why not write for Macfilos? Join our growing band of regular contributors

Are you interested in writing for Macfilos? We need authors who have something to say about photography and equipment. In particular, there’s a place for reviews of all L-Mount cameras and lenses from Leica, Sigma, and Panasonic. Ideally, you would own the equipment and be able to provide a long-term review together with sample photographs to illustrate your article.

The main focus at Macfilos is on Leica LTM and M cameras and lenses from the earliest days to the latest M11 and its forthcoming derivatives. In particular, we are interested in the ideal camera for street photography. The M6 Classic is a favourite, of course, but what’s your preference? If you think you can contribute, please write to the editor.

We cannot offer payment — Macfilos is a private venture and is wholly non-commercial — but we can guarantee a large and enthusiastic specialist readership and the opportunity to take part in a vibrant discussion.

One of our latest recruits to the band of Macfilos authors is California-based Gary Schwartzwald who contributed his first article on bird photography last month. Delighted with the response, he's now working on more articles for publication...

  1. I’ll start the sequel of part 2 of the Scottish article quite soon. Going to north of Brittany in early September. Will pack the X2 so there should be another article coming. I will have to put an article together about Greece as well. Sorry no Leica there but my faithful Ricoh

  2. I have been procrastinating over a fresh article since June (sorry readers), I did a road trip in the camper, pulled some amazing images, and then got lost in the world of my day job. And alas a half baked idea with unreleased images sits on the ssd and pokes me each day.

I will try harder as I have a week off in Cumbria, and will see if I can pull it out of the ground to help out.

Is this some form of write out to help out?

  3. Dear Mike, I will submit an article later today for your consideration. It will be a fairly black and white article.

        • Hi Dave, never get excited until you see an article. Your taste may vary…but I sensed Mike needed something besides steam rolled paper cameras. Anyway, I submitted my 100 words to Mike and he will be doing his amazing editorial skills to turn a pigs ear into a silk purse, but unfortunately he does not enhance images.

          • The problem with black and white image articles is they do not show well at all on a smartphone or uncalibrated monitor. But I did include one image of a zipper down on shorts to please some people.

My next article was going to be my nude self portrait series but I do not think it would be popular here and my prints are not selling.

I need something to get my creative juices going.

          • The same thing he does with my words of wisdom when they land at his feet. The messiah of Macfilos editing..😂
