Our friend and Macfanboy Ralf in Washington DC reports:
I am now the proud owner of a new iPad! This is the 64 GB unit without 3G. We ordered one of those and it should arrive later this month. I expected a large crowd at the Montgomery Mall Apple Store, so I just decided to walk up to the Best Buy Store here and, lo and behold: no crowd. My first impressions: it feels a bit like an iPhone on steroids. I don't think that I will have any problems with the on-screen keyboard, it seems to work for me, particularly in landscape mode. Resolution is great for video and using it as an e-reader appears to be no problem. The "print" is nice and sharp, certainly better than my Sony eReader. It remains to be seen whether or not the greater weight will be a problem while reading a book. As I mentioned before, I believe that, at least for me, this will be a laptop replacement. As more and more apps come out it will probably become even more so.
If the weight gets too much, just take your iPhone. If you are using Amazon and Whispersync you’ll be up to date with your book wherever you are.
