As you know, I love statistics. But this is one I didn't expect. According to Asymco, a Finnish app developer and industry analyst, downloads of iOS applications will shortly overtake music. They say it took just over two years for the App Store to notch up 6.3 billion downloads, while it took iTunes five years to achieve the same total for music. Asymco believe that apps will overtake songs by the end of the year. Another interesting statistic is that as apps surge, music downloads are slowing. Current daily average for app downloads is 17.6 million compared with only 7.5 million songs.
