I can well believe today’s news that our unloved former Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, blocked a knighthood for “Sir” Steve Jobs. Apparently Steve refused to address the faithful at a Labour Party conference and this is surely good enough reason for Brown’s veto. After all, Brown had a way with technology and had a tendency to throw cellphones around the room. Sadly, a great opportunity was missed and Jobs would have been a worthy recipient of the honour which was accepted by Bill Gates in 2005. Arise, Sir Steve, your reputation goes before you.
