iPad WiFi takes GPS data from iPhone’s Personal Hotspot

Potentially good news for owners of WiFi-only iPads.  While the WiFi versions lack the GPS chip that enables exact position, it seems that it can share the GPS signal from your iPhone when connected via the new Personal Hotspot feature. According to postings in the MacRumors Forums, the GPS link definitely works with iPad 2 but there is some doubt over how effective it is with the original tablet. This is a welcome boost for the many iPad 2 buyers who opted for the WiFi version for practical reasons and had decided to forego the GPS facility. Now they can have both a cheaper tablet and full functionality.
