Music labels apparently expect the new iCloud from Apple to be the “gold standard”, a better (and by extension, more desirable) product than Amazon’s and Google’s efforts. Apple may be doing the right thing and negotiating license deals, but the public has a disturbing knack of going for the service that offers the cheapest deal. If Apple’s iCloud is hobbled by the music industry, Amazon and Google could reap the benefits.
