iPad: PC manufacturers “walking into a buzz saw”

The iPad is wreaking havoc on the PC market, according to Bloomberg today. Reporting on comments by analyst Jane Snorek of Nuveen Asset Management in Milwaukee, Bloomblerg said that iPad competitors are “walking into a buzz saw”. With lack-lustre results from HP and Dell and falling consumer sales of PCs, Snorek believes that the tablet is capable of replacing at least the home computer. The iPad has syphoned off more PC sales than analysts and executives predicted. More than 70 million tablets, the majority of them from Apple, will be sold in 2011 and predictions from Jefferies & Co point to nearly 250 million sales annually within three years.
