Apple’s financial success is nicely emphasised by this post on Pingdom: Apple staff raking in the cash. Thanks to good management and a relatively small staff, Apple makes $420,000 profit per head. Dell and HP—which yesterday reported on hard times ahead—are at the opposite end of the spectrum with a profit of only $26,000 per employee. Even mighty Amazon is third from the bottom with a profit-per-employee of $31,000. Apple leads the pack, by a substantial margin, and has overtaken Google and Microsoft since 2008 as shown in the above table. Interestingly, troubled HP employs 325,000 while profitable Apple has a payroll of only 46,000. Enough said.
