Apple Without Intel: What this could mean for the Mac

Interesting background material from MacTrast’s J. Glenn Künzler on Apple’s prospects if they decide to ditch Intel. Commenting on a Wall Street Journal article, he says that the seed of the rumour is that Apple has been putting pressure on Intel to reduce the power consumption of all its chips from an average 35-40 watts down to a meagre 15 watts. One thing for sure, if Apple is seriously looking at life after Intel, the biggest gainer will be ARM and the bounciest baby of any such marriage will be convergence of iOS and OS X.
