A sea of blue shirts and a mad crush of customers gave a bump start to the latest Apple Store in London. Stratford City Mall, which is now the largest shopping mall in Europe, opened doors for the first time today. The Apple Store, the fifth to open in London (the others are at Brent Cross, Shepherd’s Bush, Regent Street and Covent Garden) is a typical mall box but is about 50 percent bigger than the store in Westfield’s sister mall at Shepherd’s Bush. The flagship stores at Regent Street and Covent Garden are in another league. It is a pity, though, that the general environment of Stratford East is so depressing. Our Olympic visitors next year will need to pop a few pills if they are to enjoy the area.
