Apple and Samsung: Corporate ambulance chasers print money

Uriah Heep never had it so good. All this patent wrangling that Apple are involved in—especially with Samsung—is all rather tedious. To me it smacks of corporate ambulance chasing, and we all know what ambulance chasing has done to raise costs and fill the pockets of lawyers.

Now, it seems that the “critical business partners” are thick as thieves when it comes to behind-the-scenes joint ventures. According to 9to5mac, Samsung is said to be ramping up production of the Apple-designed quad-core A6 chips:

Apple has been in talks with Samsung over shipment of its A6 quad-core mobile processor (AP) chips to be used in the next iPhone. It appears that Apple clearly has concluded that Samsung remains a critical business partner. […] Samsung Electronics will apply its advanced 28-nanometer processing technology to produce qualified A6 mobile APs. TSMC will provide customized chips with designs from Apple, however, the volume will be very small.


In the meantime, Samsung and Apple are hard at it trying to prevent the of their respective products in a number of markets around the world. This probably isn’t good news for the consumer, but then the lawyers are not known for consumer care.
