Greece: It could be the Apple of the Mediterranean

Mired in crisis, is Greece primed for rebranding?

Peter Economides, the brand strategist responsible for Apple’s “Thing Different” campaign, is turning his considerable talents to thoughts of saving the homeland, or Patria as the Greeks have it. He believes Greece has had such a bad press that nothing short of rebranding can save the country: “Greece is at the point where an inspired and properly managed rebranding campaign could turn it into the Apple of the Mediterranean.” All good stuff, of course, just as long as there’s no danger of Apple becoming the Greece of the Bay Area.
