Apple retail stores increase sales by 60 percent in Q4

Apple’s retail stores worldwide increased their sales by 60 percent in 2011 Q4 according to this report from Asymco. Horace Dediu also draws some interesting conclusions, including the fact that store traffic in 2011 (322 million) exceeded the total population of the USA. Some 34,600 employees, an average of 100 per store, achieved an mean revenue/employee of $474,622 and a profit of $120,289. Each employee handled, on average, 9,600 visitors who spent $50 a head. Revenue per square foot remains astronomic at $6,500.
