Borough Market: Streettog paradise

 All the way from China
All the way from China

Every time I visit Borough Market near London Bridge station I meet so many interesting people. Sometimes there are more photographers than food shoppers, but always there is an electric atmosphere with dozens of great photo opportunities. Last Saturday, a miserable rainy day, I went out with Richard D who I met at Eric Kim’s street photography course last month. He had also invited Marcin, originally from Poland, another keen streettog with his new Ricoh GR. Then my friend George James turned up with his Monochrom and f/1 Noctilux and, along the way, we gathered up globe-trotting travel photographer Michael Hennland and a photographer friend of his, Gerard from Ireland.

I was out with the new Sony A7r with a Leica 50mm Summilux ASPH bolted on. George and I set ourselves the challenge to shoot wide open: He had the worst of it with his f/1 lens and hyper-fiddly depth of field. I was slightly better off with the f/1.4 but it is no easy task to get all you need in focus in a rapidly moving environment such as the market.
