On Saturday I went out with my friend Ivor Cooper of Red Dot Cameras to check out Portobello Road, a location I know well from the past but which I haven’t visited recently. Ivor used the new Leica D-Lux and I was playing with both my Leica Monochrom (with 28mm Elmarit) and the test 56mm Fujinon which is the subject of the full review which you can find here.
Today Ivor sent me a great shot of myself in this mirror at a stall selling sunglasses, taken with the D-Lux. I was busy at the same time getting a similar shot, from a different angle, with the Fujinon.
The author caught off guard by the new Leica D-Lux in the hands of Ivor Cooper
At the end of the day, and after a decent pizza, we both agreed that Portobello Road was worth a re-visit. Ivor has determined to organise a Leica forum meet in the New Year.
Interestingly, Ivor knows Portobello Road well and we were able to chat to several of the stallholders, including Joseph who sells vintage cameras in one of the indoor markets.
I had not realised there was so much camera stuff to be found in Portobello and it is certainly worth a visit. It is a different venue from Borough Market, for instance, where all the produce is edible.
