Hasselblad’s Lunar available at $5,500 discount. Is it worth $1,500?

There’s discounts and there’s discounts. But B&H Photo’s whopping $5,500 off the egregious Hasselblad Lunar(tic) is pretty stunning. I have no problem with the underlying Sony NEX outfit, but who wants all that wood and Tuscan leather? Not many, it seems, judging by the rapid deflation.

Hasselblad’s makeovers of Sony cameras are an example of how not to do it. I know Leica rebrands some Panasonic models but the price differential is minimal compared with Hasselblad’s fantastic calculations. And Leica’s modest premium is actually worth it when you take into account the better aftersales service, warranty and the copy of Lightroom that comes as part of the package.
