Leica X-U: Probably the best camera you can buy for serious outdoor activities.

Let me state here and now. I don’t do serious outdoor activities. That’s why I haven’t put myself on the list to borrow Leica’s unusual X-U underwater camera. But among those who do dabble in the damp, including keen fisherman Steve Edge, the sturdy X-U is gaining quite a following.

One man who does get up to some adventures is Joeri van der Kloet who has put the X-U through its paces in a fashion I can only dream of. As he says,

When the Leica X-U was announced, one of the things that was said repeatedly on all the gear forums was ‘they won’t sell many of those’. After one week of playing with the Leica X-U I can state this is probably the best camera you can buy for serious outdoor activities. Not just for underwater stuff, but any situation that involves moist, sand, dust and impact.

Now I come to think of it, the X-U could be perfect for London street photography, winter or summer….
