We don’t usually like to peddle rumours and, although I could write reams of conjecture on the subject of the next Leica M, I’m not going to. I prefer to wait for the official announcement — it certainly seems to be getting closer. However, it’s becoming difficult to ignore the increasingly detailed rumours which have now turned almost into statistics. If we don’t mention it you might run away with the idea that we aren’t keeping our eyes open.
If true, the the leaks have more or less revealed most of the new details. There is some interesting stuff, including the radical possibility of a lens-mount collar which can only mean a thinner body — something I have hitherto thought difficult to implement because of the rangefinder mechanism. Sony do it with the RX1 and A7, of course, and that’s how they manage to get the body thinner. If the rumours turn out to be untrue, they certainly look plausible at this stage. Over to Leica Rumors:
