The last of the M10-based variants, the Leica M10 Monochrom, is now listed as discontinued at leading US dealers, B&H and Classic Connection, according to a report by Leica Rumors. While expected, this dealer acknowledgement confirms that the way is now open for the launch of an M11 Monochrom in 2023. The withdrawal comes over two years after the discontinuation of the M10 and screenless M10-D 2020
As we wrote on December 23, the Monochrom is expected much earlier in the product cycle than has been the case with earlier versions of this black-and-white camera. Back in July 2023, we covered the likely timescale for introducing the M11 Monochrom and the Leica Q3 and mentioned the rumour that these cameras are known as Rene and Wilson in the development stage.

The M10 Monochrom remains an attractive buy on the used market. Click here for reviews and more information on the outgoing model, and more information on the current Leica M11 range.

Anyone know what Jono is using these days? 🙂
Well, earlier this week he was using an M10… Retro chic…
I should also add the M10M is amazing with older Leica lenses, such as the 50mm Rigid and 35mm Summicron IV, and even the 90mm Tele-Elmarit.
The M10M will be a tough act to follow. I have used it for several years and the images are stunning, especially when used with an APO lens. I will wait for the reviews. It will have to have more dynamic range (significantly) and match the tonality and resolution of the current M10M, which is actually a par with converted M11 images.
I am getting organized for one. I am going to cull my equipment to fund one. It will be the ultimate black and white camera for me. Who knows it might even replace my M11. I can use my SL2-S for colour and ultimate low noise performance. 2023 could be an exciting year.
