New Sigma Lenses: 35 f/1.4 DG II Art and 28-105 T3 Cine for L-Mount

Sigma today announces two new full-frame lenses for the increasingly popular L-Mount system. The 35mm f/1.4 DG II Art is a superfast f/1.4 prime, while the AF Cine 29-105mm T3 FF is aimed at videographers. Both are also available in Sony E-Mount. A third addition, the 15mm f/1.4 DC Contemporary for APS-C has no L-Mount version and is currently restricted to Sony E-Mount, Canon RF-Mount and Fujifilm X-Mount.

35mm f/1.4 DG II Art

Sigma claim that the new lens offers the best optical performance in Sigma’s 35mm f/1.4 Art line. It is a compact design suitable for both stills and video. The completely redesigned 15-element, 12-group construction offers a level of detailed rendering that surpasses previous generations of 35mm f/1.4 Art optics.

According to Sigma, incorporating new glass materials that were previously difficult to process, together with four high-precision aspherical elements and two SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements, the lens thoroughly suppresses aberrations, particularly axial chromatic aberration, which is often prominent in large-aperture lenses. The company’s rigorous standards ensure, according to the press release, outstanding resolution across the entire frame, even at maximum aperture.

The lens is claimed to produce beautifully natural bokeh by correcting axial aberration and a suppression of colour fringing. The lens features an 11-blade rounded diaphragm, which maintains a round shape even when stopped down from the maximum aperture.

A newly developed AAC (Advanced Amorphous Coating) features a low refractive-index amorphous layer that reduces reflections responsible for ghosting and flare, to deliver clear, high-contrast image quality.

Floating focus system

By adopting a floating focus system, Sigma claims that the lens achieves both enhanced optical performance and a more compact, lightweight design. Compared with the outgoing 35mm f1.4 DG DN Art lens, it is approximately 14 percent shorter and 20 percent lighter, at 530g. The lens employs the HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) system, which drives its large and heavy focus group with high power and speed.

Even though the large-aperture design makes the focus group heavier, the system delivers fast, accurate, and quiet autofocus for both stills and video.

Sigma assembles the lens from aluminium and TSC (Thermally Stable Composite) to deliver the rigidity, durability, and build quality expected from the Art range. It includes two AFL buttons that users can assign to various functions through the camera menu on compatible models. Alongside the aperture ring, Sigma adds an aperture ring lock switch and a click switch that allows users to turn the click on or off.

Dust and splash resistant

Sigma designed this new lens to minimise focus breathing, reducing the change in angle of view caused by focus shift, to produce a natural-looking transition when recording video. The lens is dust- and splash-resistant and the front element protected by a water- and oil-repellant coating so that it can be use in adverse conditions. It comes with a dedicated petal hood.

The 35mm f/1.4 DG II Art will go on sale on 16 April 2026 at a recommended price of £849 (including tax) in the United Kingdom. US price will be $1,059, a Euro price is still to be announced.

AF Cine 28-105 T3 FF

According to Sigma, the AF Cine 28-105 T3 FF offers an advanced optical design and rendering performance. The optical system incorporates the design of the 28-105mm f/2.8 DG DN Art still lens. Sigma says that it combines the experience of years of lens design with the latest development technology, and the advanced manufacturing techniques of Sigma’s sole production base in Aizu, Japan.

Inheriting the rendering performance and reliability of Sigma’s Art lenses, the AF Cine line integrates cinema-style mechanics and operability, optimised for professional cinema production. It features a limited-rotation focus ring, industry-standard 0.8M pitch gears, and a clickless aperture ring.

The lens uses a linear HLA motor to capture intense movements in action scenes, respond instantly to rapid focus shifts during gimbal or handheld shooting, and seize unpredictable moments without missing a split second, giving filmmakers reliable support in every shooting situation.

The AF Cine 28-105 will go on sale on 16 April 2026 at a recommended retail price of £2,799 (including tax) in the United Kingdom.
