I've been waiting a long time for my press demonstrator Leica SL. I'm on the list, I'm on the list, I'm on the list. I could borrow a lens, of course, but those press bodies are elusive. Fortunately, I can steal a march on my own review with these excellent mini-videos produced by the Leica Akademie's guru Robin Sinha.
These days emphasis seems to be on a bewildering array of focus points which can be individually selected to home in on the subject. Many photographers prefer the old method of relying on a fixed centre focus point followed by recomposing the shot. Trouble is, I had difficulty setting up the Leica SL to do this. But Leica's Robin Sinha and I found the solution. it's easy when you know how.
During the past two weeks I have spent a lot of time bothering the staff at the Leica pop-up store in London's Brick Lane. I've been very impressed by the number of visitors and by the interest shown in the photo walks organised by Robin Sinha and Leo Scott. Every session has been enthusiastically acclaimed and, in my opinion, the fortnight in Brick Lane has been a great success.
